How many Levels and Tiers are there?

There are 4 Levels, and each Level contains 4 Tiers, for a total of 16 Tiers in the full system.

  • Level 1 (Tier 1–4)

  • Level 2 (Tier 1–4)

  • Level 3 (Tier 1–4)

  • Level 4 (Tier 1–4)

 Grading Mechanics

How is grading done?

Available both online and in-person.

  • Online grading begins with introductions via email, after which the evaluator will decide the actual grading method (e.g., Slack, Google Meet, Zoom, etc.).

  • In-person grading is also available.

Where does in-person grading take place?

In-person grading can be done at major seminars, approved TRICOM events, or through private grading sessions with an Authorized Evaluator.

  • Regions include Utah (USA), Switzerland, Brazil, Philippines, and other areas with qualified Master Instructors or Evaluators.

  • Full list of instructors: TRICOM Instructor Network

Who does the grading?

Certified & Authorized TRICOM Master Instructors and Grading Evaluators.

Can I skip Tiers if I already have experience?

No. All Tiers must be completed in order. There is no skipping, even with previous experience.

What happens if I fail a grading?

  • You can re-test only the failed portion at a later date.

  • The re-test fee is 50% of the original grading fee.

  • If you are able to correct the error on the spot, you may still pass.

How do I know when I’m ready to be graded?

You should be proficient and comfortable with all techniques required for the Tier you're testing for. Practice with a partner if possible. While no official checklist is published yet, your evaluator can guide you.

What should I expect during grading?

You will be required to perform each topic or subject matter as shown in the online curriculum for the respective Level and Tier you are testing for.

  • A training partner is required for all grading submissions (online or in-person).

  • You must demonstrate technical understanding, control, and application of each movement.

Can I pause and resume grading later?

Yes. If you pause your membership, you pause access to videos and the ability to grade. When you resume, you can pick up where you left off.

What happens if I stop my membership — do I lose my progress?

You retain your progress, but lose access to the TRICOM Grading System videos and grading privileges until your membership is reactivated.

Is there a deadline to complete each Level or Tier?

No deadline. You can move at your own pace as long as your subscription is active.

Will I receive a certificate after each Level or Tier?

Yes. A PDF certificate will be emailed to you directly from the official TRICOM email: [email protected].

How much does grading cost?

  • Online grading: $45 USD per Tier

  • In-person grading: Up to $90 USD per Tier (discounts may apply for group testing)

Private training is not included and is at the evaluator’s discretion.

Are there additional fees for re-testing?

Yes. A re-test for a failed grading is 50% of the original fee.

Do I need to pay an annual fee for instructor licensing?
